Vision for Circa
CIRCA Procedures: some Qs and As
Who decides what gets published
in CIRCA?
The Editor, in conjunction with an
Editorial Advisory Board, as from spring 2005.
If you are interested in writing for
CIRCA, please contact the editor, indicating what areas you
would like to write about - either in terms of themes or,
for reivews, in terms of geographical location. Or simply
submit the text.
News items - called the Update
section - are collated by the Editor.
Does CIRCA pay for published
work?
Yes, though our rates are not that
impressive.
I want to have a show/event/book
reviewed in CIRCA - what do I do?
Bring it to the attention of the Editor.
CIRCA's policy is that we select the
reviewers for shows ourselves, and the text of reviews is
not available prior to publication. If your work is selected
to be reviewed in CIRCA, it is important that you provide
good quality images in colour to accompany the review.
CIRCA does not pay for these images, but does return them
on publication of the magazine - so please clearly indicate
your name and address on the back of each image, along with
details of title of work, title of show, date, media and dimensions.
CIRCA endeavours to be fair in its
reviewing policy, but shortage of space within our pages measured
against the huge number of events means it is far from perfect.
Availability of reviewers can also be a problem. If you are
interested in writing reviews, get in touch with the Editor,
if possible sending copies of your work. In order to keep
a balance of 'voices' in the magazine, CIRCA seeks writers
and reviewers from across the range of academic, artistic
and journalistic backgrounds.
I want to have my forthcoming
show listed in CIRCA...
CIRCA does not publish listings, except
online (see here). Send information about your art event to us here.
