Four of the finalists in this year's Texaco Children's Art Competion have had their works turned into stamps to mark the fiftieth installment of the contest. The stamps went on sale in the Republic yesterday.

More on this story here . The competition itself has had illustrious winners over the past fifty years. They include Former Minister for Finance and Labour Party leader Ruairí Quinn TD (a four-time winner), Dorothy Cross, Bernadette Madden, Graham Knuttel, Robert Ballagh, Paul Costello, Thelma Mansfield, Terry Prone, ICTU General Secretary David Begg, Clare Boylan, JeanAnne Crowley, Ethna Tinney and ASTI Vice President Susie Hall.

Still second-ish

Many thanks to all those who answered our call to test our Google ranking (see news item here ). It seems we're still coming in second more than first - 71% of the time in fact. Must try harder. Geographical location made no difference to the result.

However, we do have more positive news: new statistics show that we now average almost 1,100 user sessions per day.
