Paul Doran is the winner of this year's AIB Prize. The Prize is always associated with a show in the gallery that nominates the artist for the award.

According to the press release:

Doran, born in Gorey, Co. Wexford in 1972, was nominated by the Sligo Art Gallery. He graduated in Fine Art Painting, from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin, in 2001. His work is the result of an intense commitment and a passion for the act of laying paint on canvas.

Paul wins a prize of 20,000 euro to cover the publication of a catalogue, a contribution towards the costs of an exhibition in Sligo Art Gallery in 2006 and an award to the artist to facilitate production of new work for the exhibition.
