Lewis Glucksman shortlisted for Stirling (Tuesday 2 August 2005)
compiled by Mary Garboden
It was announced last week that the Lewis Glucksman Gallery in Cork has been shortlisted for the R.I.B.A. Stirling Prize, the U.K.'s most prestigious architectural prize awarded to the building which has made the greatest contribution to British architecture in the past year (who says a building in Cork can't contribute to Britain? No, that's the cheeky bit - nominees can be anywhere within the E.U.)
Thanks to the design of architects O'Donnell + Tuomey , the Glucksman has been honoured alongside other impressive buildings including Zaha Hadid's BMW factory in Germany and the new Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh.
Up Cork!
