GAC update / survey at Gallery of Photography (Friday 5 August 2005 #2)

Progress at GAC

We have reported quite a number of times recently on 'developments' at Galway Arts Centre (follow links from here). The latest information is that a review process has been set in motion, intended to look at the future form of the visual arts there. In the meantime, Michael Dempsey's contract has been renewed until the end of the year.

Your chance to tell the Gallery of Photography what to do

compiled by Karah Byrns

The Gallery of Photography, Dublin, is looking for your input. With support from the Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon, it would like to open a new 'Digital Studio' for the use of artists and photographers. Plans for this exciting new facility include double-sided laser printing for making book or catalogue dummies, large-format printing, basic DVD production, as well as various forms of training.

The project seeks to address the most pressing digital needs of artists and photographers while keeping costs low and facilty quality high. In order to do so, the Gallery has compiled a survey for artists and photographers to indicate their preferences for printers, scanners, software, calibration systems, etc. To complete the survey, which will be running for the next two weeks, please follow this link.

Comment 1 As an artist living and working in Galway City I find what
has happened to Michael Dempsey hard to believe. Michael
has and is doing a wonderful job.

If it's not broken, then why try to fix it???

I would be very sad to see Michael go.
