Bumper budget for arts in Republic (Thursday 17 November 2005)
The Republic of Ireland's Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism has today published its estimates for the forthcoming budget, and things are looking good. These are some of the highlights:
The Arts Council allocation for 2006 is to be 72.3m euro, representing an increase of 18.5% on the 2005 allocation.
Culture Ireland promotes Irish arts abroad. Funding of 3m euro has been provided for 2006, which is a 50% increase from the 2m euro that was available in 2005.
An increase of 11% has been provided to the National Cultural Institutions (The National Museum, the National Library, the National Archives, Chester Beatty Library, the Irish Museum of Modern Art and the National Concert Hall).
