You have always dreamt of being recognized as the new Picasso? Your dream may become reality … in a virtual sense, though perhaps in real life as well.
The Tech Museum of Innovation (San Jose, California) has announced an international virtual-exhibition challenge. The Tech has created an empty version of itself in Second Life, and it’s looking to fill it. The aim is to allow artists from all over the world to exhibit their work in the virtual museum.
Each artist has to create a prototype, either individually or in collaboration. All virtual projects will be exhibited in the virtual Tech in Second Life. Moreover, you can check on the progress of other projects by visiting the Tech in Second Life.
After having known fame in Second Life, you may know fame in the real world. The participants in this contest can win awards (eg, the award for the ‘Most innovative virtual project’ or for the ‘Best design project in Second Life’), but also cash prizes of $5000 if their pieces are selected for display in the real Tech museum, during the ZERO1 festival in June 2008.
If you want more information about this challenge, visit www.thetechvirtual.org.
