What is Marks? Six writers have been paired with six artists. The brief for each pairing was to fill four pages with whatever they wished, through a collaborative exploration of the possibilities. The pairings are:
Caitríona O'Reilly (writer), Isabel Nolan (artist)
Kevin Barry (writer), Sean Lynch (artist)
Nuala Ní Chonchúir (writer), Cora Cummins (artist)
Alan Jude Moore (writer), Bea McMahon (artist)
Sinéad Morissey (writer), Benji de Búrca (artist)
Sean O'Reilly (writer), Peter Maybury (artist)
The launch will feature readings by Nuala Ní Chonchúir, Kevin Barry and Alan Jude Moore, and a soundwork by Peter Maybury. The works from Circa' s recent Culture Night Open Submission Video Competition, curated by Lee Welch, will also be shown.
The project has been generously supported by The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon through a New Works grant. The publication will be distributed free to all Circa and Stinging Fly subscribers, as well as to all second-level schools throughout Ireland. It will also be available in many of our regular outlets. To ensure that you receive a free copy, please subscribe to either The Stinging Fly or Circa (regular retail price: €6).
