This show is a collection of photographs representing
deserts and other arid, unpopulated environments from four different
continents. In terms of technique this work is of a very high standard.
The subject matter, which would, at first appear to be a singular
environment, proves to be full of complex differences, all of
which the artist celebrates by means of distance, focus and quality
of light. These images are both sensitive and rewarding of the
time spent with them. An accompanying text mentions the artist's
interest in the silence of these beautifully empty environments
and the work goes some way to exploring this idea.

The sheer number of photographs in such a
small space, however, detracted from any sense of contemplation
or silence. This made the exhibition seem standard and unconsidered.
The installation of the show seemed at odds with some of the concerns
of the artist.
