Bursary in Contemporary Visual Arts Criticism
Information
The bursary is designed to encourage high standards in writing on the contemporary visual arts in Ireland. It is a joint initiative of An Chomhairle Ealaíon/The Arts Council, The Arts Council of Northern Ireland in partnership with CIRCA Art Magazine and is jointly funded by the two Arts Councils.
There is an award of c. 7,700 euros / IR£6,065 which will allow the successful applicant to devote a specific time to producing a substantial body of writing, which will be published serially in CIRCA. Subject matter must be relevant to contemporary Irish visual arts. The award is designed to cover any administrative or research costs incurred by the project.
Aims and objectives
The objectives of the scheme are to increase the standard of critical practice and to encourage new critical writers and writing on the contemporary visual arts in Ireland.
The aims are:

to raise the level of critical debate

to encourage research into contemporary visual art

to encourage new writers and writings
-
to develop the practice of critical writing
-
to encourage the expression of many and varied viewpoints
-
to increase the ability of writers to address specific and varied audiences
Who is eligible
The Bursary is open to those with interest and/or experience at any level in contemporary Irish visual culture. Proposals must pertain to this. Applicants must from Ireland or resident in Ireland.
