Drawing from natural forms

  • Make the drawing big, fill up the whole page.
  • Don't bring in something to draw that is very complex and detailed.
  • Don't forget to use shading.
  • Make sure the proportions are correct.
  • Try not to draw too cartoony.
  • Spoons are harder than they look!
  • If you're worried about this part of the exam, practice drawing the object you are planning to bring in beforehand.
  • Do a shadow.

If you are doing honours, you must draw a part of your object up close with detail. Pick a part with detail, but not too much. Have aline showing where you picked the detail from. You should also draw a box around it. If you are doing pass leval, then you can choose to do either drawing.

Style isn't marked, the examiner is looking for correct proportion, shadowing and general shape. Look at the drawings as a whole to make sure everything is in harmony.
